Toshiba, a global leader in advanced technology, on Monday said that it was looking at enhancing its market leadership position in India with 10 per cent share of the LCD TV market by 2013.
“We aim to achieve 5 per cent share in the LCD TV market in 2010-11 and increase it to 10 per cent in 2012-13,” Toshiba Corporation Vice-President Shigenori Tokumitsu told reporters here.
The company hopes to market three lakh LCD TV sets in 2010-11 and 1.2 million in 2012-13, Mr. Tokumitsu said after launching world’s first LED TV with integrated battery back-up here.
2D and 3D technology
The company has launched LED TVs with 2D and 3D conversion technology from 15 inches to 55 inches in the price range of Rs.15,000 to Rs.2.50 lakh respectively, Toshiba India Business Head (Consumer Product Division) Pranab Mohanty, said.
The company plans to launch new additions to its laptop range in January 2011. The price range is estimated between Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 35,000. Toshiba operates a global network of more than 740 companies, with 2.04 lakh employees worldwide and annual sales of $68 billion.
